Hello and thank you for taking an interest in our new venture!
My name is Sarah and I have an extensive background in the culinary industry paired with a genuine love for healthy living.
I am a Culinary Institute of America alumni who worked in restaurants up until the Covid-19 pandemic. Although I am not currently working in restaurants, I still find myself frequently cooking or tending to my garden amidst my busy schedule. My passion for food started around high school where I raised pigs while completing four years of Future Farmers of America. Over the years I have part-timed on a few private farms and my love for both food and farming has grown. Recently this has led me on my next journey based around nutrition where I have gone down a rabbit hole filled with many different layers of information that can seem overwhelming. I hope to use this site as a means of sharing my findings along with some recipes and backyard garden tips & tricks.
Hopefully you can relate to me, for I desire to live a long and fulfilling life surrounded by my loved ones. I believe the first step towards achieving such a goal begins with our lifestyle choices and, more importantly, what we put into our bodies in terms of nutrition. Blogging is completely new to me, so it will be quite the learning curve. Hopefully you stick around so I may provide you all with a collection of information I have come to find in my research towards living salubriously!
After being a city dweller most of my life, I find myself currently living way out in the country on a 40 plus acre property. My neighbors are cows, horses, deer and other creatures common to the area.
With new surroundings, it feels like a good time to reinvent myself on many levels, and embrace a new season of life.

I was born in 1970, and grew up as a latch key kid of the 80's. We didn't talk about nutrition, exercise, well-being, etc.. My meals were morning cereal, school lunches and hamburger helper for dinner. Quick, easy and cheap meals fit into what was happening in my family situation at the time.
Throughout most of my adult life I have been overweight and/or obese. But I always had something inside of me that told me I could be healthy, happy and vibrant.
Things have evolved over time, but I am no longer seeking a diet or quick fix to any health concern. I am looking for a lifestyle...and I feel like I am creating it now.
After struggling with carb addiction and trying to 'manage' sugar and portions, I believe I have found that the old way is indeed the best way. What is the old way? I mean the REALLY old way..... eating the way our ancestors did long ago.
- Animal protein and fat
- Raw dairy straight from the cow
- hard cheese, butter and yogurt
- eggs and lots of quality salt
If any of this sounds unbelievable, I would suggest doing your own research. Find the thousands of people who have cured themselves of diabetes, are now at their ideal weight and have alleviated dozens of health ailments, all while giving their bodies the nutrition it craves.
I continue to research and for now that looks like.... how to make ranch dressing from scratch and also mayonnaise and possibly yogurt and ice cream. Just look at the ingredients that you can't even pronounce on some of these items, and you may decide you want to limit those things as well.
At this moment, I am happy to be out on 40 plus acres in the country, finding local ranchers and farmers who can help me eat local, fresh and nourishing things.
